All About: The Structured One

The Structured one

The first word that comes to mind when I think of an undergarduate student is ‘Freedom’; freedom to experience new things and break every rule possible. At the same time there is a need to structure time, priorities, ideas and even their minds. Thus there is a conflicting task at hand.

The targeted customer of my collection is this Undergraduate student. The fabrics used are Cotton, Organdi, Calico, which are light weight fabrics and are very comfortable to wear and carry, easy to wash as these are very important factors for an undergarduate student who is like a freespirit. The other garment has colour-white base with minimal blue dotted print, cream, grey and maroon. The collection has structured sleeves which is the main focus of the design. This is keeping in view the need to look and feel defined inspite of vagabonding the entire day; a habit for most undergarduate students.

‘The Structured one’ is inspired by the architecture on the tube stations and the pathway, the way they are structured, the brick formation that has similarity to panels. The sleeves are constructed by pleating cutting panels and joining them together. This technique has been used to create geometric shape on the sleeve which resembled these patterns. There is a certain amount of stiffness to the sleeves which is achieved by fusing to enhance the angular shape of the garment and give a clean look.
